Brett Bacon — Founder and Lead Author
Fiction that moves you. Nonfiction that moves you forward.

Brett Bacon is the founder and lead author of Dead Hand Publishing Company. A bestselling novelist and nonfiction writer, his work spans psychological horror, literary thrillers, fantasy, and children’s literature. Across genres, Bacon’s stories are united by a fascination with morality, consequence, and the hidden pulse of the human spirit.

Before turning to writing full-time, Bacon served as a U.S. Army Judge Advocate General officer, built a career in law and business, and later founded multiple creative ventures. His diverse background informs the realism, discipline, and emotional intensity of his fiction—where courage and conscience often collide.

Through Dead Hand Publishing, Bacon aims to create a home for stories that challenge, unsettle, and endure. Each book under the Dead Hand imprint is crafted to leave a mark—on both page and reader.

The Next Voices of Dead Hand
Stories that linger. Authors who dare.

Dead Hand Publishing was founded on a simple conviction: the best stories are the ones that stay with you. We’re drawn to writers who blend craft with courage—authors unafraid to face the dark, to question the ordinary, and to write with something at stake.

As we grow, Dead Hand will open its doors to a select group of independent voices whose work aligns with our core vision: fiction and nonfiction that combine depth, tension, and truth. We look for storytelling that moves between shadow and light—psychological horror, literary thrillers, crime, dark fantasy, and other narratives that reveal what it costs to be human.

Submissions are not yet open, but calls for new authors will be announced through this website. If you’re a writer who believes story should both disturb and endure, we invite you to join the list and stay connected for future opportunities.

Dead Hand Publishing is more than a label.
It's a mark of lasting work.
When the hand closes on a story, it stays closed.
